We are the product of public education

We are what school teachers want us to know

We are what is left after social media took over

We are the dependents of technology

We are the philosophies of our parents

We are the fruits of public opinion

We are the result of society

After all this, am I include in the “we”?

Maybe there is still something left me

After being modeled and influenced to fit into society

Maybe they have not forced enough propriety

After I watched my peers succumb to to the pressure of compliance

Maybe there is still some in my inner reliance

I can open a book and read for my mind

I can put the phone down and not ask my friends for their opinions

I can look and judge for myself

I can solely explore for the ultimate truth

I can look the masses straight in their montone faces

I can tell them they are wrong

I can gaze in their collectively glazed eyes and feel sorry for them

I can be an individual

I can be me
