Princess in my skin

Once upon a time
There was a beautiful princess
Who skin shade was just like mine
Locked in the highest tower in the ghetto--
No where near yellow
Braiding the neighborhood's hair was how she spent her time.
Late night, she would dream her knight was coming
Whenever she heard a gunshot fire
*Pow Pow* she never flenched. Never startled
For her desire of love gave her power.

Ruby. Ruby. Let down your guard
Let me swoop you up
Let me have your heart
Ruby. Ruby. My princess. My all
Let me crown you my nubian queen
The fairest of them all.

She dream that she would fall madly in love
Whisked away in a horse power mustang
Or a bug.
Not that she was desperate. But her momma raised her right.
She taught her the heart can do more than your pockets might
She told her to keep her head on straight let true love find you.
And remember is about what's in your head. Not with what's behind you.

Ruby. Ruby. Let down your guard
Let me swoop you up
Let me have your heart
Ruby. Ruby. My princess. My all
Let me crown you my nubian queen
The fairest of them all.

Awaken in the morning. Suddenly filled with bliss.
She take a deep breath. This moment was better than a kiss.
As she stare in the mirror, she start to grin.
Definitely in love with the brown skin she is in.
