Precious

My beautiful Dog inspired me

With her big brown eyes and slowly graying muzzle

She taught me cunning, snatching away food right out of my hand

Her determination to catch squirrels too fast for her aging legs

With her sweet and longing looks to steaks and hamburgers too far to jump

She inspired strength in me

Especially iin her final days

She taught me to keep looking forward

To not fear the unkown

To never give up

And then she told me goodbye

She walked me slowly to the mailbox

And waited there for my car to leave

She taught me respect and love

And I'll always miss my Precious
