Power of the flesh

Romans 8:12-13         New English Translation

12 So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh 13 (for if you live according to the flesh, you will die), but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live.

 Power of the flesh

Slaves of what and slaves to whom? Who is your master?

Is it to your fleshy frame or some daydream in the distance?

How did you get this far without slipping and avoiding a disaster?

Is it just by fate that you stumbled towards today’s existence?

A spiritual life imprisoned by a fleshy body

The light caught in a darkened heart, if that is possible

Maybe like a curtain that is drawn from both sides

To meet somewhere in the middle to hide the probable

Life itself seems hidden in a box of clay

It won’t come out although the box is brittle

Does not have to make sense as it captures life

To move it from existence into a constant riddle
