Politically Woke

Socrates was known as the wisest man,

Simply by knowing that he knew nothing.

If that is the case,

Let me express my own ignorance:

For I do not know why

we tell our daughters to scream fire

Instead of rape.

For I do not know why

we claim to be the greatest country on Earth

yet turn right around screaming that

we need to make ourselves “great again”.

For I do not know why

we claim to be the melting pot of the world

yet refuse to take others under our wing.

For I do not know why

we still tell our sons and daughters

to love themselves and everyone around them

but if we are to love intimately

to not love that of the same gender.

For I do not know why

we tell children to draw a family tree in kindergarten

yet are not accepting of everyone’s relatives

simply because they were not born

on a specific chunk of land.

I do not know.
