The Poisoned Sun
We are as strong as that old tree in our backyard,
It’s been there ever since I was born
We stand alone and any judgment we discard,
But I am the one to blame for why we are so torn
The sun was always shining on us,
But I remember dark clouds came out the day I sipped that poison
That poor tree was blowing out of control causing such a fuss,
If I knew that one sip was all it took, that bottle I’d be a closin’
You have always made me feel good and been there for me,
I don’t want to ever let you go
Although you have caused me so much joy and misery,
But the truth is, I can’t have my family and you both
The storm has passed, now that the poison is gone
The sun is shining on our tree once again
There’s a fork in the road, but I now know where I belong
I will follow the road with my family by my side, follow it to the end
