Poems Are
Poems are eyes
And pictures.
A scene you were not present for
But still somehow lived.
It is a fallen leaf
On the other side of the world.
On a different spot on the timeline.
It is a broken heart
And courage.
It is every solid thing
And everything felt.
It's sounds and colors.
Poetry is what stands between some and the loony bin.
Because there is no other way to claim you've seen
And felt what you have not.
And the only way to claim a raven like a writing desk
Is to say that it is poetry.
Poems are the sixth sense.
Allowing you to see the magic of everyday life.
To taste Autumn.
To feel the color red.
To hear the whispers of flowers.
Smell comfort.
Feel a moment as if it were satin between your fingers.
Poetry is a soul written on paper
Trying to tell its tale.
Poetry is a soul living another's tale
Because the moment it is read it becomes its own.
