"A Poem for She"

Missouri-born mama,
always having a story to tell us children.
You always  knew why the caged bird could sing
and why nobody, but nobody, can make it out here alone.
Angelou took the beaten path, a road so foul
and yet, she was still able to come back and say, "hello."
Amongst Heaven's Gates now she's going thru.
