A Poem to Eyes

Dear Eyes of Sight,

You're the Beauties of the world.

What would life be

without your pearls?

Would we have skyscrapers

that tower us all?

Would we have battles

over differences appalled?

Would we crush wildlife

to make our houses look pretty?

Would we throw so much out

if we weren't hid from this destiny?

Although eyes, you've caused us to be greedy

you've also produced miracles of beauty.

The ability we have

to see colors of Earth

To see how far we've come

and how far we must search.

To be able to see

feelings of pain and of glory

To look in someone's eyes

and learn their true story.

Through You we have the power

to love one another

To understand, to give,

to receive each other.

Oh, Eyes of Sight,

let your beauty brighten the world!

And please, teach us love

instead of discord.
