Poem Depth
A break from heart-ache
An escape from reality
An emotional pause,
Or to set a break-down free
When in the world I feel alone,
I find others just like me
A new thought that’s weighing me down
Can be lifted with a guarantee
Expressing a deep, emotional trauma
That others I wish not see
An be hidden deep inside my words
Like a minnow in the deep, blue sea
No judgement is passed on my careful words
It’s the only time I’m really me
I can talk about all of my abuse
Or I can speak of times of glee
My poems are my savior
They heed my humble plea
They open their arms like a home
Form them I shall not flee
I will never be the same
For relief it has been the key
Taking away and soothing my sorrows
Is what poetry has done for me.
