In a class, in the dark

I'd rather be at the park

Sitting in rows military style

It will take getting used to for a while

I'm not a robot, I'm not a tool

I guess you can say the districts a fool

Making standards to make me weak

Teachers try, but most are meek

To keep their jobs they have to follow

The rules of above, they have to swallow

Swallow their voice, what they want to do

Inside the classrooms it's becoming a zoo

Children learn in many ways

Not in military styled days

We need freedom, a chance to learn

Are you a babysitting service or a place to yearn?

Yearning for knowledge and a better life

You make the children see the knife

The two-sided blade, one smooth one sharp

It's not as beautiful as hearing the harp

The harp of hope, the harp of sorrow

Is it time that we can only borrow?

Education is not where it should be

The government, the district, you should help me

You're standards too high for us to reach

We want individual levels we each can breach

We can learn in a class together

But we each need plans to treasure

The treasure to reach out individual goals

To accomplish more for our sake assholes

Please hear me out, answer my call

We are all different, but will learn overall
