Pieces

Pieces

Shoes constantly moving

Twitching and rearranging

His mom tells him to calm down

But he’s anxious and unsure

His dad says go for a run

But he hates running

They’re athletic sneakers in mid summer

Even in the 90’s

His dad hopes he’ll be a big football star

He hates football

And his mom is tired of broken sandals

He feels sorry for ruining everything

They still look brand new

He knows they’ll son stain and grow holes

His father is tired of spending money

Because money doesn’t grow on trees

And his mother just wants what’s best for her son

Because she loves him to pieces
