A photograph of you

Scrolling through my iPhone A thousand photos flashing byMoments caught foreverGalleries of time that quietly fly I smile at familiar faces as they age across the yearsBabies, birthdays and occasions Captured laughter, happy tears  I pause for just a moment At old photographs of you And for a millionth time it seems My heart will break in two  Your hair & smile has stayed the sameYou never aged a dayIt’s still so hard to understandWhy it had to be that way  If only you’d have stayed with us and shared a lifetime too We wouldn’t have to settle for  So few photographs of you. By Hazel Birdsall Jauury 2018
