The Phoenix

Raging, burning,

The fire churning,

Staining to be free.

Dare I be,

The monster in me,

The phoenix?

The chains are slipping.

The fire's roaring.

Its wings are spreading.

The phoenix's soaring.

Losing myself,

To the fiery inferno.

Slipping away,

I cannot stay,

No matter how hard I try.

Dare I go?

If so,

What will happen to me?

Will I slip away,

Be consumed by the flames?

Do I want it,

The freedom of letting go?

Do I let the beast rise,

Be who I am meant to be?

In  a heartbeat,

The choice is made.

The deed is done,

The beast is free.

I am the phoenix.
