The Perseverance For A Better Future

Growing up I never had much

Parents were always working and my older siblings couldn’t help me in my studies

It was always hard to keep up with the racial disparities being such a crutch

Didn’t have many people around me to be my buddies

Saw many of my people breaking backs everyday including my parents for little pay

Teachers turning to substitutes which why many students transition into jails

Society tries to make the low-income students another prey

We will rise up together to make a better change, the LGBTQ, males and females

Which is why I took on three jobs in high school to help with family struggles and for college

Hard work pays off, I’m away at college building a future for my community

You just need that one person to be able push you and acknowledge

What you have become which is why I won’t stop for equal opportunity

For all of us, the minority group: Hispanic/Latino, African American, and Asian American
