Perfectly Imperfect

Location

I got everything from my dad

Nothing was left out

I have got his height, his feet,

His hometown, his home street,

Hell, I even inherited his pout.

My brown eyes were once his

And so was my nose

His feet were bigger than even mine

The only difference is our birth signs

He was a Sagittarius and I a Virgo!

My dad is not the only thing that made me

I have my mom to thank as well.

She taught me honesty, humility,

And even to allow civility

Almost like I'm Beast and she's Belle.

She raised me with both hands

An only one parent household.

It was just the two of us fighting,

Screaming and crying

Until "I'm sorry" and we became less bold.

I can't give credit to only my parents

For they had a small part in how I am today.

I had to go through trials, sufferings,

And many polishings and bufferings

In order to become this way.

Many years later after dad's funeral

Only makes me realize

That he was always there

Not just to stop and stare

But to see me blossom from those lies.

Mom was there to keep me going

Even when I was low and sad

Especially when she realized why

I only sat and got many scars and cried

Although I started communicating only in my paper pad.

The real reason why I'm me is me

And that's because of many things.

It's because of my needs and that one decision

That determine my future and broadened my vision

I want to soar, so I have to earn my wings.

I'm perfectly imperfect because I decided to be.

I'm an anxiety-ridden, brown-eyed young lady

Who dreams of a Ph.D and traveling

To distance places and unraveling

Her soul in someplace sunny and shady.
