People Say...We must...I will...

Location

People say that its a choice

“You’re not born that way,” they say

They say it again, and again, and again.

I stand in the background,
A bystander to such a huge dilemma of

Out time, our country, our people.

People say that we’re an abomination,

The spawn of Satan,

The one that fell too far from the tree.

And again, I stand in the background,

A listener of such painful words and,

Hoping that they won’t find out,
About me.

People say that we need God,

If we accept him into our lives,

He will forgive us of our sins.

And again, I stand in the background,

A wonderer,

Wondering how I -

Not understanding why...

We are sinners.

People say too much about others,

Especially us;

They seem incapable of

Minding their own business;

But then again, I’m not doing much to

Stop them

I only stand in the background,

A waiting soul,

Waiting for someone other than me,

To rise up and raise their voice.

People say -

Wait,

Is that not enough?

Do we really have to stand

In the background?

A bystander,

A listener,

A wonderer,

A waiting soul?

I think not.

We must stop,

Standing in the background;

And speak as loud

As our lungs will allow,

For as long as our lungs,

And our chords,

And our beings,

Will allow.

We must take,

Action.

To better the world,

Around us.

To make a better,

Future.

We must work to

Make a difference.

We must make

A change.

I will step

Out from the background;

And I will make
That change.
