People Don't Change

It comes into your life-

A fresh soul,

Awaiting a home

Waiting for tender loving and care

You could offer them the world

A field of friends,

Connected by roots

But when you start to neglect

And they are left alone

They have to form a mind of their own

Your dirty gloves pat their shoulders

No longer nurtured

Not enough water

Dreading the cloudy days

When all they needed was the sunshine again

If by now you didn't know,

Some plants were not made to grow
