Each word and every line
Represents me at some point in time
Every heartbreak and times to think
Have all been recorded in separate colors of ink
When razor blades were once my best friend
I learned to let go and confide in a pen
When pill bottles opened for me like passage doors
Lines on thin paper told me "No more"
Through trial and error and plenty of tears
Were poems and pages full of words and smears
Through my laughter and glories
Came more paper and stories
These lines have seen me when I'm broken
And let my hand glide for all that was unspoken
Poetry was my savior
Through blood shed and pain in my heart
It always gave me a fresh page with a need to start
I know there's always room to improve
I know that it won't always cause mountains to move
But poetry is where I can be raw
Where I can be free
Poetry is where I can finally be me.
