Parkbench Poem

Do you remember the day

That I took your first kiss away

And how that day turned out amazingly

More than anything we thought it would be

Remember those benches

And what I wrote

And how one of them

Left a stain on your butt

And we just laughed

And loved the moment

And do you remember

That poem we saw

Written on that bench

And I had to say ‘awe’

It said:

I see forever when

I look into your eyes

It took your love

To make my heart come alive

I had to write it down

I never wanted to forget

And it summed us up perfectly

Didn’t it?

But the story continues later on

My heart had a kick start from your love

But it didn’t need it to keep beating

I guess forever isn’t as long as we thought it would be

And that we just weren’t meant to be

Yet here I stand, still whole alive and free

It hurt for a while

Like my better half was gone

Like I was blinded

But after a while, I learned to see again

I learned to breathe again

I learned once again how to be me

That park bench summed us up perfectly

Didn’t it?

Only now, there is nothing I would love more

Than to forget

And not remember the forever I saw in your eyes

And not remember the day I took your first kiss away
