Painfully Pretending
Location
And true you kissed me
But the subtle vibrations of your chattering teeth behind your malleable lips gave you away
You had a fear deeper than the hidden agenda that tomorrow brings
Your fear was me
I spewed and contorted and fizzed with
Everything you didn't and don't know
While you watched in awed bewilderment
At the spectacle worth good money.
And I pretended painfully that I had not a clue
Of your mortified existence or of your oddities
I pulled hares from glistening velvet hats
While you anxiously grasped for dust bunnies that vanished.
And yet, you unravelled my loose ends while gluing yours together
