Out of Darkness

Don't trust the shadows.

At times they can be your only friends you have,

but they can also be the sharpest of knives to your back.

I once shared everything with my shadows.

My thoughts, dreams, fears, and ambitions.

The walls are now those mirrors  you see at carnivals and they reflect all my secrets.

I wish to sleep, just to escape this awful reality.

Instead, I grab a hammer and break the mirrors because I am no longer afraid.

I grab a flashlight to expose the shadows for what they really are.

Then, I walk away and never look back.

Leaving the shadows for a better tomorrow.
