A veteran is a hero
What they have been through only they know.
They have been through weather both cold and hot
Some killed, wounded, or shot.
Soldiers have been to Vietnam, Japan and Iraq
Some never to come back.
The ones that return may hurt inside, and out
An everlasting image, no doubt.
Mothers, fathers, husbands or wives
They all go out and risk their lives.
They stand and fight for the red, white and blue
The vererans survived...could you?
Imagine bullets flying, soldiers down
A brother lost, an enemy found.
They are heros, a purple heart they wear
Each one with a story to share.
A brother, sister, cousin or friend
We would not be here without them.
