Our Bodies Are Awesome

Your body is awesome

squishy, smooth skin

untaut and full of blemishes

and so is mine.

Let your body blossom

jagged marks running horizontal and vertical

sometimes red, purple, or a silvery white

and so is mine.

Our bodies are buxom

there are rolls when we sit down

sometimes two, sometimes three or even a little more

and so is mine.

But people are irksome

they call us names; fatso and beached whale

they tell us we can't wear croptops or short shorts

your body is awesome

They continue to be loathsome

we lose confidence faster than trying to lose weight

we ignore them and become someone different, stronger

your body is awesome

We've grown tiresome

through the weight of criticisms, we pull through

we emerge, confident in ourselves, disregard everything they tell us

your body is awesome

We might be cumbersome

blemishes, stretch marks, and cellulite; we accept them all

your body is awesome

and so is mine
