Only a Flower

Location

Heather is so pretty
They tell her over and over
But no one ever says how intelligent she is
How wonderful she is on the inside
What a hardworking young woman she could be

Heather is so pretty
She doesn’t have to be smart
She can find what she deserves with her looks
A man who also thinks she’s as pretty as they say
She can be a trophy wife and live through him

Heather is so pretty
So trapped in one place
She didn’t go to college
The man she loved is shallow
But she can’t get away

Heather is gone
Her looks have faded
There’s nothing left but an ugly shell
Her husband says no one else could ever love her now
She believes him

If only someone would have told her how smart Heather was
Before it was too late
