One By One

One by one you break my bones
I see only the black pit of pain
Encompassing my world leaving nothing
My screams get lost in e darkness
Echoing through the pit getting swallowed
Piercing my skin you drain my blood
The pain fades and it’s replaced with cold
Peeling away my flesh you leave me bare
Taking away my organ one by one
All except my sit beating heart
It starts to pick up it’s pace, beating faster
Pumping blood that’s not there
Keeping alive a body that no longer exists
With your steady hands you cut it open
Peering inside, searching so hard
You don’t notice me float out
I watch you search the empty shell
Looking over every piece, finding nothing
Satisfied with your diligence
You begin to put the pieces back
Resetting the bones, sewing new flesh
Making the broken pieces into a whole
It has my big brown eyes
And my loud full laughs
But it’s heart no longer beats
I’m no longer there, I’ve already gone
Searching for something else to fill
A vessel worthy of my warmth
And of my life
