one night stand

One night stand

A one night stand

Turned into a night to regret

Beautiful brown fingers

 Running through her dress

Silky skin obliged

 With the man’s every whim

Doing what she had to do to

Pay for her daughter’s funeral

She began to prostitute herself

She never asked questions

The men she slept

With could never be infected

Night after endless

She slept in countless men’s beds

She had learn to swallow her shame

Along with vile things

She was doing it for her daughter

And not for personal pleasure

So it had to be right

…..right?

It came in the waves

She woke up one night

With a headache

She thought nothing

Of it and took some painkillers

A few days later she had

Nausea and vomiting

She though nothing it

The birth control must have failed

She went to her bathroom and grabbed

A pregnancy test from the top shelf

It tested negative

A few days later she noticed

She had a terrible rash on her stomach

That’s when she decided she had enough

She went to the doctor and they ran a few test

They sent her home with a couple of pain killers

And told her to wait for results

In about a month she got a call from the doctors

You. Have. Aids.

The doctor asked her to come in

At first she was hysterical

This could have never happen to me I practice safe sex

The doctor asked her to

 Think back to a time

When she hadn’t used a condom

Eight months ago she was in hotel room

She hadn’t used protection

Because the patron had

Asked her to go bare

She complied he was willing to pay heavily

And she needed the money for her daughter

She never thought she could get aids

She used birth control

She took extra measures

But aids and HIV can happen to anyone

Even super woman

*yes I know birth control DOES NOT prevent aids, but unfortunately some people do not
