One Job May Change My Life - Doctors Without Borders

A poor land wih rich culture,

Sick people with healthy minds

I bring with my knowledge, my skills, my optimism, my stethescope

And hope

In their eyes me patients have sickness, sadness, loss, and despair

And yet they have hope

They hope that I will have medications, vaccines, answers, and cures

And though this is new to me, I have confidence that I have what they need

They line up

And I listen to heartbeats

"Thump thump, thump thump"

I draw blood, give vaccines

A slight wince, but all for the better

The children are nervous, the mothers hug me, and fathers me thank me

They thank me in a language I do not understand

But they we all smile in the same language.

It's all I need

It's all I every needed
