Once Upon a Rhyme

We can no longer say

"Once...

upon a time."

For it has happened

far more

than once.

The perfect girl

falls for the perfect guy.

No one stops

to question why.

The tales and the stories

the joy and the laughter

the high lofted glories

Happily Ever After.

What if Ariel

falls back in love with the sea?

Prince Eric pleading,

"Don't you love me?"

Leaving devotion

for the call of the ocean.

You see, things change.

That simply is life.

Ever After comes heartache

and anger

and strife.

This is not to discount

the child-like dream.

But Happily Ever After's

not always what it may seem.

Ariel submerged

green tail on tow.

Eric out searching.

How will he know?

This unlikely story has more

at the heart.

Sometimes in love,

things fall apart.

Do not be fooled.

by that cute, easy line.

There are some things in life

that change over time.

But don't worry, darling.

This story ends well.

Ariel returned,

back in love the two fell.

When you grow older

and wiser, you'll see.

That growing up is not all

it's cracked up to be.

When you grow older

and wiser, you'll see.

That growing up is not all

it's cracked up to be.
