Ode to Optomism

O sanguinity, thou art my hold

On the glories that make life bold

When others say that everything dies

You don’t pout and ponder why

For who truly wants eternity?

That’s bound to grow dull eventually

You do not deny that the world holds pain

But from despair you do refrain

For without agony there would be no joy

And contentedness is a child’s ploy

Optimism claims not perfection

Nor does it deny abomination

Those that follow you know life is bleak

When dreariness is what you seek

A vividness of love and laughter

Is all the optimist is after

And with it, the good in all things

Is never hard to glean

You are a companion for one and many

Bliss is what you strive to keep steady

To hide the truth is not your goal

So thank you optimism, for showing me ways

To find positivity in every day

And for allowing me to help

Others find their sunshine as well
