Ode to my Sweet

You, my sweet, brighten up the day,

When with another you shine, bringing light to those who taste you

But when alone you’re sickening, dangerous,

I wish to see you always, but if I do then I may die

My body it will fall, weighed down by your heavenly embrace.

It’s a shame, I, the one who loves you so, cannot touch you, cannot embrace you

The world rips us apart, wanting you for themselves

Unrelenting in your siren song

Even Zeus, the almighty, cannot resist your temptation

You, unrelenting but so lovely.

Unwilling to leave but unable to stay. Why must we live as estranged lovers?

Never able to touch but always in reach

To leave you would mean certain death but to stay would mean the same.

I’m stuck my angel, my love, my sweet

Oh how I adore you.
