Ode to Humility

Flying through the seas of the conscious,
Transcending the velvet breeze of sub-conscious thought,
You slice through the air as time through the cliffs,
Guiding the lost, taking no fare, not but a dime,
As you lead those who reign over their people,
While they are beaten, flogged, you fight their pain,
Until you succeed, and declare victory.

You hold the hand of grace’s children,
Cradling their fallen flesh, aiding them to stand,
Burrowing through the thoughts of failure,
Restoring the hopes taken by whips held taught,
As you stride beside the bloodied will,
As it halts, explodes, shining over the hills,
Serving as a beacon from beyond tombs of decay.

Transcending time you stand firm,
The God given tool to overcome the stern,
Whose hearts are full of countless evils,
Trying to enfeeble the weakened wills.
But you burst through the barrier and take the toil,
The upright are strengthened in their endeavor,
As you push on through the years, a gift from our Savior.
