'O’ Carmelite rose'

O’ Carmelite rose
  clothed in pure, chaste
petals earned within the
  secret rites of vesper songs.

An allure so prized by
  suitors—denied
their gazes, presented
  them with defiance instead.

So moved by zeal,
  pledged self-agonies;
slipped silver bramble atop
  her ebony brow,

cherished flame-licked hands
  pressed together
in sanguine sacrament
  under a golden crucifix.
