The sound of the heart monitor beats with beautiful rhythm
Thump…thump…thump…thump
The elderly man utters "Nurse" quietly
I scurry to his bedside to see what he needed as I knew he was near death
He was looking down at his rosary which was wrapped around his hand
He looks up slowly, as I gaze into his cloudy calm eyes
Reaching up gently, he held my hand
Thump…thump….thump…
His wrinkled face looked back down at his rosary
Without saying a word he looks up and smiles
Thump…Thump…Thump…………
I kissed his hand and smiled
