Now Older and Bolder

When I was young I was sprung

By going on playgrounds and having fun

Caring little about homework because I felt

I was entitled to none

Having sleepovers with with girls

We painted our nails and put on pearls

Although Most nights I stayed home and played alone

Those memories from being with my friends were never gone

None the less those days are over, I realized

As I got older I got bolder

I prioritized my education

And glorified my discrimination

As a young black girl I was destined for greatness

I strived to expand my knowledge

Later on it will help me in college

Not only to enhance my studies

But perhaps meet new buddies

Despite the odds of those in charge

It never slipped my mind that I wouldn’t enlarge

Not only in education but as a public speaker to women in our nation

With all The hardships and plenty more to come I Will remained humble until the battle is won
