Nothing new

Proverbs 20:27 New English Translation (NET Bible)

27 The human spirit is like the lamp of the Lord,
searching all his innermost parts.

Today all are gone before it starts

It seems just an extension of yesterday

It’s only called by a different name

Just now to wonder who will pay

Filled with some facts of yesteryear

As they still stand empty before me

Will it be filled with what appears near?

Is it partly with mystery or mischief?

“Nothing new under the sun”

A king wrote this in the past

Much labor and pain in uncertainty

Is now a major part of the cast

Today is Sunday for celebration

What if clouds cover the sky?

Will it be shaded for good measure?

Or just rainless to keep us dry

Habits seem to rule the lot

Names and works lined up for good

Routine guides and directs all

Although well-misunderstood
