Not So Typical

I’m not the girl that just sits in class

or the one that never does her homework.

I’m not the girl who doesn’t know the answers

or the one that never raises her hand.

I’m not the girl that follows the crowd

or the one that dresses to impress.

I’m not the girl that hides her face in makeup

or the one that constantly primps her hair.

I’m not the girl that wants people to feel pity for

or the one that seeks for attention.

I’m not the girl that changes who I am for others

or the one that makes others feel depressed or excluded.

I’m not that girl.

I’m the girl that is smarter than the others

or the one gets involved in school.

I’m the nerd without the glasses

or the one that owns math club shirts.

I’m the girl that doesn’t care what others think

or the one that defies all odds.

I’m the girl that preservers when the going gets tough

or the one that puts in every last effort.

I’m the girl that dreams of something bigger

or the one that wants equality and happiness.

I’m the girl that is confident in herself

or the one that believes the world is her oyster.

I’m that girl.
