Not Just Words

It takes COURAGE

to lie in bed and rummage through your thoughts
without self-indictment from the conflicts fought
between your desires, your ideals, and your ambitions.

It takes PASSION

to wake up each morning and work and slave away
to earn an intangible prize in the hopes of one day
being able to return to those who gave so much.

It takes WISDOM

to know that you must cordially salute he who,
given the chance, would betray you in order to
better his position and his self-esteem.

It takes FAITH

to dedicate your whole life to a cause with the hope
that someday the world will look back at your tropes
and speak your name along with that of the greats.

It takes COURAGE, PASSION, WISDOM, and FAITH, 4 words, to build-up a person,
but it takes only one to plummet you down, and it is: INDISCRETION
