Not Just a Girl of Eighteen Years

Just through the past few years,

I have shed a lot of tears.

There were some, in both rain and shine,

So here are a few things I learned from those hard to get through times:

First, I cannot control what happens around me,

But I always get to choose who I will be.

Second, even when times get so sad,

The turn out isn’t always that bad.

Third, sometimes all you can do is simply exist,

Or you will lose sight of what’s important in the midst.

There are obviously plenty lessons more,

But I would rather not become a bore.

I’m not just a girl of eighteen years,

I’m the girl who learned from her many tears.
