Not All Diamonds Are Perfect

Thu, 12/17/2020 - 19:57 -- G.C.A

Let them be as a diamond,

Always pampered,

Protected, highly valued,

Loved

But always diminished by the tiniest of cracks and chips

I’d rather be a Zirconia crystal

Malleable but strong

Sticking to my infinite sands of choices

Like the crabs who

scurry across the surface

 eager for life

To have meltdowns and reheating

Over and over again

To be found,

to feel the close examination

of everyone in the room

I’d rather be a Zirconia crystal

To be truly found

By those who understand and appreciate my merit

Than those who only sought for my beneficial value to them,

To be auctioned off day by day by the highest bidder

To be a diamond means absolute perfection

To have no inclusions

But that means that they’re the weakest of all

I am a Zirconia crystal

I will break or crack time to time

from accidents or mistakes

But the adhesion process makes me strong

I am a Zirconia crystal

To be valued for my imperfection

than to be a diamond and break once and be valued

as useless.
