Never a Trophy Wife

Mon, 11/19/2012 - 14:48 -- nraso13

In American society women are viewed as subordinate to men,
I break that stereotype.
Women have been put down for years
hindered from all America offers in its’ prestigious Constitution.
I refuse to be forced into the stereotype.
The stereotype that a woman’s sole purpose is to live MUTE in a man’s shadow,
a trophy wife.

I will never be a trophy wife
placed on a shelf
never meant to be seen or heard.

Man’s shelf is society.
Women are brought up to be trophy wives,
Uneducated
Living in silence
Following the orders of men
Never meant to be independent or live free from the choke hold of a man’s shadow.
I refuse to live in a society where I am expected to be MUTE next to man
Or expected to disregard my beliefs
Needs
Personal well-being
Or forced to be a perfect home maker.
I will be my own person
I will strive for prosperity in the Land of Liberty.

I will never be a trophy wife
placed on a shelf
never meant to be seen or heard.

I am dedicated to rise above the stereotype
Never to be placed on man’s shelf
Drowned by my own silence
I desire to be educated.
Attain radiant independence.
Perseverance to be educated
A career tycoon giving the orders
A woman that embodies energy and elegance.
Kaleidoscope of endless possibilities
I challenge the stereotype.
I am woman
hear me roar.

I will never be a trophy wife
placed on a shelf
never meant to be seen or heard.

The Great Gatsby’s Daisy is the the very image of feminine complicity in the status-quo.
She is none other than the typical trophy wife
Perched atop man’s shelf with no voice or opinion
Isolated in her lack of independence
Restrained by her lack of freedom
Daisy is frantically paddling beneath a placid surface of a bittersweet bourgeois life.
Her life is one I will never live.
Never accept the status-quo.
Never wait for society to evolve.
I am a strong independent woman.
I break the shackles that I am forced into at birth.

I will never be a trophy wife
placed on a shelf
never meant to be seen or heard.

I am dedicated to abbreviating the belief etched into America.
The belief that women are beneath men.
Dedicated to escape the masculine mystique
The subjugation of women.
The catalyst of my break from society’s constraints is the emergence of self empowerment.
Self empowerment is a razor sharp siren of a vibrant strong woman.

I will never be a trophy wife
placed on a shelf
never meant to be seen or heard.
