In Need of Change

What to change... so much to fix in the world,
I could use some patching up, I admit.
But just fixing myself... makes my toes curl,
That's just downright selfish now, isn't it?
Disseminating hope to the masses...
Maybe for better living conditions.
They say hope is just an opiate; well,
Maybe people need a new addiction.
There are so many things to fix in life,
An amount sufficient for a thesis,
Most hope for an end to hunger or strife,
But, for change, you must recall the basis.
The only thing in need of change is me,
So I can bring the change I hope to see.
