My Skin

I feel hated

I see the faces

Of the people who hate me

The people with a darker complexion than me

Asians, Mexicans, African Americans

Not all but some

The list goes on and on

Because I'm white I have no choice but success

But could you look at me and tell that I've been homeless?

That me and my mom used to live in our car?

And bathe in the creek when it was dark?

No you could never look and tell

Because since I'm white that means I can't fail.

Because I'm white I'll never know what racism is

I'll never be stereotyped or hated

I'll just be told I'm racist because of the color of my skin

But I guess it has to happen

Because somebody has to pay for my ancestors' sins
