My Skin

I am not this ugly skin,
I am the soul that lives within.
It is my job to see it through,
it is the least that I can do.
A wonderful God made me;
He loves me deeply.
No one could ever love me more,
Of this, I am sure.
God loves the sparrow
because he formed her feathers and marrow.
God loves the trees:
He loves all the creatures He sees.
And He put me in this ugly skin
to beautify the soul within.
