My Savior

Many times I have looked to the heavens

Only seeing gray

Satan draining the color from my soul

Not thinking to close my eyes and open my heart

letting the Lord refill my easel

Afraid to make my journey alone, I keep unclean company

Dragging me down the road to my own damnation

Unable to break free from the tight grasp on my hands

Following blindly to a place unknown

Wearily walking, hoping to escape my past

only to find it has run ahead to stare me in the face with it's unforgiving grin

I walk with one eye open

hoping to see only partially the Hell I have created for myself

Longing to forget the evils I have committed

By chance, we come upon a stranger

I am ashamed to raise my head

He frees' me from my captors,Frightening them with His presence

He takes my hand and leads me to the road of redemption

Freeing my soul completely.Wiping away every unseen tear

Filling my heart with gladness

Never to leave me unprotected
