My little Dreams

I have tots, they're my little dreams.

Tucked into bed with me, each night, between my sheets.

As ready as I, are these dreams to play,

But they know they must wait, 'til it is their day.

With a smile, I tell them, "Be patient, sit and rest."

Gather all of your strength first, then I'll wake you when you're at your best.

And every day, when I awake, I select one dream that I will shake.

When shook, they will smile, and they will say, "Today's the day, I'm the one you'll take."

And little by little, one at a time,

I will let another dream arise.

I'll lift up their mask, and let them see the light.

And they will laugh and be merry when their chance is in their sight.

And sometimes, they will doubt me, when they think it's not yet time,

So they’ll crawl back into bed and fall back into their line,

When this happens, as it does, I simply have no fear,

Because I know it means their dream is simply bigger than it appears,

I know they’re still here, needing some more rest,

And when their time comes back around, I'll put them to the test.

But each day is beautiful, because no matter what,

I know I can awake a new dream, who’s eyes were once before shut.

And these bright dreams of mine no matter how big or no matter how small, I simply can’t wait until I get to watch them all.
