My Heart's Debts

My mind will firmly hold

Dreams and hopes lost and cold
They  have been long forgotten
Some, ill and rotten

Yet in the dark of night
They are brought up with might
Just to show me my regrets
Marking each one as debts

My heart cannot hide
That my dreams have died
Wants have left stitches
And life only gives so many pitches

Now I've been called out
Something I've known about
There's nothing left for me
So just leave it be

Wishes be damned
My heart has slammed
And no longer wants to hear
Anything else to fear
