My Guardian Angel

Tue, 06/17/2014 - 22:36 -- knicole
I met a boy once
who was playful and adventurous.
He always sought trouble
but was every parents dream.

I befriended a boy once
whose hazel eyes hid wonders,
his voice soothing,
his smile flawless.

I loved a boy once
he would play his guitar for me
and sing all of my favorite songs
happy and sad.

I knew a boy once
he was my best friend
I could tell him all my secrets
and count on him to be by my side.

I went to a funeral once
of a boy I loved so much.
A boy that hid dark secrets and burdens,
who felt lost amongst all of his friends.

A boy who committed suicide.

I saw an angel once
one night when I was asleep.
He took me on a journey,
to a place that shined so bright.

He told me that he was sorry
explaining how he wasn't happy,
that things were hard inside.
A constant battle within his mind,
that never seemed to subside.

I asked him why he didn't tell me,
afterall we were best friends.
He looked down at his feet and whispered,
'I didn't want them to hurt you too.'

I have a Guardian Angel now,
he'll forever be 17.
Though I miss him more than anything,
I know he's finally at peace.
