My Favorite "I Love You"s

My favorite "I Love You"s

don't come from waxy chocolate or

the sickly sweet smell of wilted roses.

My truest "I Love You"s

are found at the end of nights soaked in laughter,

along side an impenetrable smile and aching belly.

My most genuine "I Love You"s

are spoken during unproductive days spent watching ceiling fans turn,

talking about nothing and everything all at once.

My most honest "I Love You"s

are left unspoken after an adament "She's wrong and I'm right!"

but are always, always understood.

My most important "I Love You"s

are forgotten, instinctively declared at every parting,

every meeting, without thought.

My most meaningful "I Love You"s

are remembered, assured at every farewell,

every return, a pledge kept over any distance, any time.

My favorite "I Love You"s

are founded in years and years of unbroken trust

and sealed with the promise of an infinite number more.
