My Father, My Mother, My Godly Grandmother

My Father,my Mother, my Godly Grandmother, I choose not one,

For the sacrifices they’ve all made, beginning with the rising sun,

Through family pacts, through broken backs, troubles thick and thin,

They all put their best foot forth, though suffering, it was with a grin;

                              My Father, my hero, stands strong and tall!

                              With his mind diseased, his spinal narrowing,

                              His pain, weakness, numbing, needles and pins,

                              Yet never a time for me, has he stopped caring.

My Father, my Mother, my Godly Grandmother! All giving up a lot,

Riches of money, adorning beauty, favour, so I would need for not,

All the commodities, articles, and objects, they could have possessed,

But instead they chose to give me a life, in hopes I would do my best;

                             My Mother, my heroine, truly gave of herself!

                             In pain and allergic to me, while still in the womb,

                             Her body was rashed, scarred, and disfigured,

                             The birth of a child could have put her in a tomb.

My Father, my Mother, my Godly Grandmother, have instilled in me,

Honesty in all, respect for all, to show generosity, and humility,

A sense of forgiveness, kindness, lovingness, and to be generous,

Finding ways to beat the odds, through the hard times be courageous;

                             My Godly Grandmother, my spiritual preceptor!

                             Praying for me and others is a powerful gift,

                             On your knees for the needy, crushed and weak,

                             No matter the falter, you give such a lift.

My Father, my Mother, My Godly Grandmother, gave me a freedom,

So in honor of them, I’ll share what I’ve learned, I’ll share my wisdom!
